Yesterday evening (09), a discussion was held at the Ministry of Energy between trade union leaders and the Minister of Energy on the draft Bill and the programme regarding the restructuring of CEB.

At this meeting, many matters were discussed, including safeguarding the rights and privileges of employees during the CEB restructuring programme. Speaking at the meeting, the Minister stated that maintaining the state ownership of the power sector will be the government policy and that no reduction or removal of employee rights will be done as part of this restructuring programme.

The trade union representatives highly admired the government’s policy to keep the state ownership of the power sector, and appreciated the opportunity they have been given to share their opinions and suggestions. They also commended both the government and the Minister for paying attention to ensuring the rights and privileges of the employees, and also expressed their willingness to contribute their best to the advancement of the power sector. Representatives from 42 trade unions affiliated with the CEB were present at this meeting.
