
A delegation of leaders and investors from the Indian energy sector met Minister of Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody at the Ministry of Energy yesterday (30).
The meeting was held with the aim of looking for investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s energy sector and exploring new pathways for enhancing cooperation between the two countries, and also proposals were made to recognize existing and future investment opportunities, identify new fields that enables improvement in technical and economic cooperation between the two countries, and enhance cooperation in areas such as green energy, alternative fuel sources, modern technologies and environmentally friendly projects, particularly within Sri Lanka’s energy sector.
Several key leaders in the energy and green energy sector, including former Chairman of CII India, Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Limited Mahendra Sanjeev Puri, Managing Director of Lanka Indian Oil Corporation Deepak Das, Chairman and Managing Director of Hykon India Limited Christo George, attended the occasion.
This meeting can be considered as a significant step to boost investments in Sri Lanka’s energy sector and further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
