Hon. Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Arjuna Ranatunga stated that most of the ministers call him as a chairman of the cleaning service. He made this review during the New Year celebration held at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, today. Minister further stated that he could be able to reduce the corruption as well as he could be able to initiate development projects within last 6 months.

“Earlier, Lanka IOC was a part of oil distribution. Some people are trying to be a third or fourth parties to this. We don’t prefer privatization and the responsibility to protect this institution is rely on us. Even workers have completed 99.9% out of the work, they have to complete the left 1% to reach to the success. We were commenced to construct oil tanks after 40 years. We are expecting to commence the construction of another 6 oil tanks after 6 months. No one wanted to construct a refinery system. But we expect to construct it soon. Some people are intervening to stop this construction while suggesting to import oil for higher prices. I don’t need to stick in to the positions if they are not allowing me to work. I always take decisions which are favorable to the country. When the President and the Prime Minister handed over this ministry they requested me to solve the all issues which existed in this ministry. Most of the ministers called me as a chairman of the cleaning service. I have already worked hard and made institutions profitable” Minister Ranatunga stated.

“We have a vast amount of workers including 3000 in the (CPC) and 2700 in CPSTL. Minister Ranatunga and I have the highest demand in the parliament. Everyone is following both of us to take an approval for a petrol shed or to seek a job. Even I’m glad about the progress, there are still shortages. But I think we can do more than this. We have to work as a private institution though this a government institution. I prefer to privatize all governmental institutions. Because I have worked in both private and government institutions. The most valuable thing is efficiency. Minister Ranatunga, Board of the Directors and I are expecting to maintain an efficient service to avoid arising fuel crisis in future. The SMS was sent by interior people. That is why it hurts. We are blessed be government servants. Therefore, work properly” Deputy Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Dr. Anoma Gamage stated.

Chairman of the CPC Dammika Ranatunga praised the Minister and the Deputy Minister for their co-operation to work without political influence.
