During a site visit to the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery Yesterday (28th<\/sup>), Energy Minister Engineer Kumara Jayakody had a discussion with the senior management of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation with regard to the modernization plans for the Sapugaskanda Oil refinery and key areas that require special attention.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the Minister checked out the future development plans of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery, and had a friendly conversation with other employees of the oil refinery, paying his attention to their issues and suggestions for them.<\/p>\n

The Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery, which was built in 1969 spanning over an area of \u200b\u200b165 acres, supplies 40% of the country’s petroleum-related product demands, as well as Furnace Oil and Naphtha to run the power plants such as Kelanitissa and Sapugaskanda.<\/p>\n

The Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Mr. D.J. Rajakaruna, Managing Director, Dr. Mayura Neththikumarage and the senior management of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery also participated in this event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
