Kumara Jayakody expressed that maximizing the use of new renewable energy sources, as well as state-of- the-art technology and methods is the practice followed by the government in achieving country\u2019s energy goals.<\/p>\n<p>Our country is blessed with a very high renewable energy potential and we are committed to developing transmission, storage facilities and infrastructure to enhance capacity to integrate this renewable energy into the national grid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe use of hydrogen for power generation will be crucial in the future. In this regard, preparing a draft policy is an important first step. This stakeholder consultation workshop marks a significant step in the process of preparing this draft policy. It is an achievement to have the assistance of experts from various countries, particularly Sri Lankan scholars and other international experts who have long been engaged in this field in developed countries. Also, I would like to express my gratitude to the relevant institutions and experts who are contributing to this effort in various ways,\u201d the Minister further stated.<\/p>\n<p>The Secretary to the Ministry of Energy, Prof. Udayanga Hemapala, Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Prof. Kapila C.K. Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, K.R. Uduwawala, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, Marina Tenn, Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Ananda Rajakaruna, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority, Prof. T.M.W.J. Bandara, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board Dr. Thushara Rathnayake, Director General of the Ceylon Petroleum Development Authority Dr. Neil de Silva, Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Dr. Mayura Netthikumarage, General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board Dr. Narendra de Silva, and many other experts in the field participated in the workshop, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Energy and the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Stakeholder Consultation on Draft Renewable Hydrogen Policy of Sri Lanka held today (18) in Colombo, the Minister of Energy Eng.
