Implementation of the National Fuel QR Code System for the Issuance of Fuel <\/span><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>Given the disruptions in fuel supply routes and the rapidly surging fuel demand in the country caused by the prevailing war situation in the Middle East, managing the available fuel reserves to maintain economic activities has become critically important.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Illegal fuel stockpiling by certain groups has been recognized as a major reason for the currently growing, abnormally high fuel demand. Therefore, the government expects to prevent such malpractices and ensure the continuity of daily livelihood of the people and economy of the country.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Accordingly, the QR Code system will be enforced with effect from 6.00 a.m. on 15.03.2026.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Starting from 6.00 a.m. on 15.03.2026, fuel will not be issued at any fuel station without a QR Code.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Method of obtaining a QR Code :<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n

    For those who have already registered for a QR Code:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. \n

      If your vehicle ownership or phone number has not changed, you may vist <\/span><\/span>https:\/\/fuelpass.gov.lk\/<\/a> <\/u><\/span>to download your QR Code starting from midnight on 14.03.2026.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      If your vehicle ownership or phone number has changed, you may visit <\/span><\/span>https:\/\/fuelpass.gov.lk\/<\/u><\/span><\/a> to re-register starting from the morning of 15.03.2026.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n

    3. \n

      For vehicles never registered for a QR Code and newly registered with the Department of Motor Traffic (RMV):<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. \n

        You may visit <\/span><\/span>https:\/\/fuelpass.gov.lk\/<\/a> <\/u><\/span>and register starting from the morning of 15.03.2026.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Fuel quotas (amount of litres issued) for each vehicle category are indicated in the attachment below.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        The relevant institutions will implement a special fuel issuing mechanism for the vehicles to be utilized to maintain the country\u2019s production activities and essential services.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
