Renewable energy projects are an integral part of the National Programme and will proceed regardless of any challenges…

“Renewable energy projects will continue to be implemented. With due consideration, steps will be taken to address any issues these projects may cause for the public. Everyone must understand that renewable energy generation is a national necessity and an integral part of the national programme” the Energy Minister said today (04) at the inauguration ceremony of the 5MW solar power plant project in the Hiyare area of Galle.

“The restructuring process of the Ceylon electricity Board is also similar to this. This is a government that has made it the government’s policy to ensure the state ownership of the electricity sector. We initiated this programme in good faith and with an open approach, also protecting the employee rights and privileges, and engaging in discussions with the trade union representatives whenever possible. To achieve the goals of the country’s energy sector, it is imperative to implement this restructuring program. Therefore, this program will be carried out continuously” he further commented.

This project has been implemented by PAP EGSS SOLAR PVT LTD, a subsidiary of Pan Asian Power PLC, a leading company in the renewable energy sector in Sri Lanka. Harsha Wickramasinghe, Director General of the Sustainable Energy Authority, Sugath Ananda, Chairman of Akmeemana Pradeshiya Sabha, Lakshmanda Silva, Chairman of Asian Power PLC, and many distinguished guests participated in the inauguration ceremony.
