Energy Minister Eng. Kumara Jayakody participates in “Russian Energy Week 2025”
Minister of Energy Eng. Kumara Jayakody participated in “Russian Energy Week 2025”, with a view to enhancing cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries.
Minister visited Russian Energy Week in Moscow, held from 15-17 October, to strengthen bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the Russian Federation and explore new opportunities and agreements, particularly in the energy sector.
During the event, the Minister Jayakody had productive discussions with the Minister and Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, as well as with top-tier representatives from the energy sector. He was also invited to be a guest speaker at the panel discussion on “Sustainable Development Goals and Energy”, where he spoke comprehensively about achieving future energy goals and the upcoming renewable energy program.
Discussion centered on innovations and the use of modern technologies in the renewable energy sector, as well as energy efficiency and energy- related knowledge sharing.
Furthermore, the Minister explained Sri Lanka’s energy transition program as well as renewable energy development, energy security and sustainable development, also expressing his hope that the Russian federation, as a leading energy provider and a pioneering global innovator, will cooperate to achieve these goals.
Russian Energy Week is known as one of the major energy conferences in the world on energy security, innovation and sustainability, where state leaders, international experts, investors and policy makers come together to discuss future challenges in the energy sector as well as methodologies, solutions and suggestions to address them.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Russian Federation Shobini Gunasekara, Chairman of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Janaka Rajakaruna and several other officials also participated in this event.
