Appointment Letters Issued to Boards of Directors of Four New Companies Formed under the Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Act
The awarding of appointment letters to the Board of Directors of the fully state-owned companies newly established under the Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Act, No. 14 of 2025, was held at the Ministry of Energy last week under the patronage of the Minister o Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody.
Accordingly, Dr. B.L. Pradeep Priyadarshana Perera was appointed as the Chairman and Member of the Board of the National System operator (Pvt.) Ltd., while Mr. G.J. Aluthge and Mr. U.D. Neranjith were appointed as Directors, Mr. P.N.S. Kumaratunga was appointed as the Chairman and Member of the Board of the National Transmission Network Service (Pvt.) Ltd., while Mr. N.K.S. Mahindasinghe and Mr. N.N. Weththasinghe were appointed as Directors, Dr. J.G.A. Saliya Jayasekara was appointed as the Chairman and Member of the Board of the Electricity Generation Lanka (Pvt.)Ltd., while Mr. N.G. Saliya Panditharatne, and Eng. T.A. Mr. Wanniarachchi, were appointed as Directors, and Mr. R. Rohitha Jayarathne was appointed as the Chairman and Member of the Board of the Electricity Distribution Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., and Dr. J.B. Ekanayake and C.K. Ranathunga were appointed as Directors.
Speaking at the event, the Minister emphasized that directors must diligently commit to the progress of these companies, as the future of the country’s electricity sector depends on it and he added that these companies need to continue advancing.
In addotion, the Ministry of Energy had organized an awareness program for the Directors in line with the awarding of these appointment letters. The Minister of Labor and the Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Prof. Anil Jayantha Fernando also participated in the event, providing necessary guidance, basic awareness and instructions needed.
