We Aim to Build Stronger Power Sector- Related Ties with Vietnam, One of Our Closest Allies with a Fast-Growing Economy”

Vietnam is one of our closest allies and with a fast growing economy, it stands as a country that has overcome some of the most difficult and challenging times, just like us. We aim to build stronger power sector-related ties with Vietnam through new investments and exchanging technology”, said the Minister of Energy during the meeting held this evening (17) at the Ministry of Energy with the Ambassador of Vietnam to Sri Lanka, Trinh Thi Tam.

Sharing her views at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Trinh Thi Tam, stated that the president’s visit to Vietnam has given a strong boost to further strengthen the ties between the two countries, and that many Vietnamese investors have shown their keen interest in investing in Sri Lanka, with a particular focus on new opportunities in the Renewable Energy Sector and technology exchange.

She further stated that her country’s focus is on strengthening relations between the two governments as well as through private investment, noting that many Sri Lankan companies, particularly in the apparel sector, have already made significant investments in Vietnam. She added that investors from Vietnam have shown considerable interest in investing in various sectors in Sri Lanka, and that the purpose of the meeting was to identify specific measures to further enhance relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador further mentioned that the information gathered during this meeting would be shared with Vietnamese investors expected to visit the country in the coming year, and that future activities could be planned accordingly.

Deputy Head of Mission of the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​Mr. Le Van Huong, also participated in this event.
