“Electricity Infrastructure Destroyed By Cyclone Ditwah Will Be Rebuilt Better and Stronger Than Ever Before”

The Minister of Energy, delivering the keynote speech as the Chief guest at the 15th Anniversary Celebration and 14th Annual Green Building Awards Ceremony of Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL) (www.srilankagbc.org) held this evening (11), stated that the arrangements are underway to rebuild all electricity infrastructure destroyed by Cyclone Ditwah, which resulted in the most serious breakdown ever reported since the installation of the national grid by a natural disaster, with a plan to rebuild them better and stronger than ever before.
The Minister also mentioned that the government is ready to face this challenge strongly. Around 04 million out of 07 million electricity customers in the country had been affected by this situation. However, with expedited action, electricity supply has been restored sooner than expected. The Minister further added that the government has done its best to provide maximum reliefs to the people.
Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL) is an organization dedicated to ensuring sustainable environmental safety and development relating to the construction and operation of buildings.
The Most Venerable Thittagalle Anandasiri Thero, Deputy Minister of Environment Anton Jayakody, Chairman of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka Jayantha Perera and some other guests also participated in this ceremony.
