“We were able to lay a better foundation for achieving power and energy goals over the past year. In this new year, let us continue to work with dedication and determination.”
– Minister of Energy Eng. Kumara Jayakody
Commencing his duties in the new year with the Ministry’s staff today (01), the Minister stated that the Ministry was able to lay a better foundation for achieving the specified goals in the power and energy sector during 2025, expressing his gratitude to all ministerial officers for their dedication in this effort.
The Minister further stated that…
“Cyclone Ditwah caused significant losses for the country. In particular, the CEB, which operates under our ministry, underwent severe damages to its infrastructure and the country’s national grid. However, we were able to manage the situation effectively and provide reliefs to the people affected. We have plans to rebuild the damaged infrastructure stronger and better than ever before. As a Ministry that regulates entities impacting the daily livelihoods of our country’s people, we carry a great responsibility. Let us therefore fulfil the duties of our jobs with determination, in consideration of the current need of our country.
When we took office, the country’s economy was in a weak state, but we were able to meet expected economic goals and took action to increase the salaries of the public sector employees. The second stage of this increment will be implemented this January and I hope you are all aware about your upcoming salary increase. I am pleased to mention that our government, and I as the Minister, have done our best to provide respectable service to the country, without any unnecessary political interference and also to ensure the dignity of all of you.
As you are well aware by now, our government functions prioritizing the needs of the country and its citizens. In this New Year, I hope you all will continue to work efficiently, with strong dedication and determination. Let us work together diligently to achieve the goal of providing the people of our country with a thriving nation and a beautiful life.
