14 Newly Recruited Assistant Directors (Engineering) to the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Receive Appointment Letters from the Minister of Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody.
Appointment letters were handed over to 14 newly recruited Assistant Directors (Engineering) of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority under the patronage of Minister of Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody, at an event held at Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority.
These appointments will address the shortage of qualified engineers, a major issue faced by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority as an entity that plays a key role in achieving the national energy targets, including meeting 70% of the country’s electricity demand using Renewable energy by year 2023 and net zero carbon emissions by year 2050 .
Sharing his views at the event, the Minister of Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody, stated that renewable energy is a key priority under the policies of the NPP government and that the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority bears a significant responsibility in achieving these targets. He further noted that these new appointments were made with the approval of the Hon. President and the Cabinet of Ministers as the shortage of qualified engineers had been a major concern that required immediate action. The Minister emphasized that this recruitment was solely carried out based on qualifications, and no priority was given to political affiliations or any other hidden criteria. He further added that he hopes the newly appointed officers will perform to theirs duties efficiently, with dedication and determination, recognizing the importance of the targets in the power sector.
Deputy Minister of Energy Arkam Ilyas, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Prof. Wijendra Bandara, Director General of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Harsha Wickramasinghe and many other senior offials were also present at this event.
